GRAMOPHONE ACCESSORIES FOR SALE
From the Ian Calderbank Collection accumulated over many years
I live in Devon (England) and started collecting in 1990. My hobby is the Gramophones themselves not so much the Accessories.
Having built up quite a Collection of varied Gramophone Accessories, for example Record Cleaning Pads, Needle cutters and sharpeners and much more. I have decided to sell them - You can't collect everything.
It takes time to obtain quality items by continually replacing and only keeping the best examples.

Meltrope III Soundbox (As used on EMG Gramophones)
Complete with box and the ORIGINAL Operating Instructions
Late 1920's / early 1930's
(Accessory 070)
Meltrope 1929 Advert
This Soundbox is rather special.
EMG was a manufacturer of very high quality hand-made Gramophones, today these Gramophones are very costly and sought after by Collectors. EMG produced their own hand-made and tuned precision Soundboxes, these Soundboxes used "Wooden" Needles.
For EMG owners who wished to use "Steel" rather than wooden needles. Rather than design a new Soundbox: EMG decided the excellence of the Meltrope Soundbox was suitable for their Gramophones.
The Meltrope III will fit most Gramophones and was used as a replacement Soundbox by owners who wished to improve the sound quality from their Gramophone.
The Soundbox rubber gaskets that perish over the years have been replaced by a specialist Soundbox Engineer.
Complete in its box and ORIGINAL Operating Instructions

The Gramophone Company's 1937 Coronation Medal
(Accessory 104)
Extract from the definitive book on HMV Collectable's by Ruth Edge & Leonard Petts
"The Collectors Guide to HMV Nipper Souvenirs" in the Gold & Silver Section:-
The Gramophone Company's 1937 Coronation Medal was manufactured by Mappin & Webb of Oxford Street, London.
The face of the Medal shows the heads of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The reverse records that the Medal was issued to commemorate the dealer's association with the Company during the Coronation year of 1937. Each Medal was supplied in a cardboard box, covered with dark blue leatherette paper, the Medal resting in a nest of blue velvet.
We originally thought that the Medal was made of silver however it carries no hallmark and tests have shown that
it is in fact made of a low density metal, probably some sort of zinc alloy.
During reconstruction work at the old premises of C.R. Spouge and Company of 11/12 Cornhill, Lincoln, the Silver Shield shown in illustration (53 in the book ) was discovered in the roof area. An extensive search in the EMI Archive has failed to reveal the details of its issue. It would appear that both the Shield and the Medallion
shown in illustrations were presented to each Gramophone Company dealer in Britain during the Coronation year of 1937. If this is the case it would mean that some 3000-4000 of these desirable souvenirs should be awaiting discovery by eager collectors.
Approximate Dimensions 1.5" (3.75cm) diameter X 1/8" (3mm) thick.
Please see the photographs of both sides.
