Notes about this Gramophone

This range of Gramophones with the new slimmer and curved swan-neck Tonearm was introduced in 1925, the model was phased out in 1929 in favour of the Exponential Tone Chamber machines. The model number is located both on the deck "'109" and on the wooden top part of the internal horn is "No. 109 14".
No. 4 Soundbox is identified on the back indicating mid 1926 onwards.
Single hand lid stay operation, this was introduced in 1927 and was a big selling point at the time. The Salesman was running out of ideas as to how to say his Gramophone was better than anybody else's
Automatic start / stop.
Case 15” Wide, 18¼ “ Deep, 13¼” High
The motor is a No. 32 with two 13½ foot 1¼ “ 775 gm springs. Brown 10" Turntable.

CONDITION:- Case is excellent, you don't see many Mahogany Gramophones in such good condition. The white mark on the lid in the left hand picture is light reflection from the Tonearm in the polished Mahogany. Nickel plate is very good with minor wear to top of Tonearm and small pits in speed control plate. The Gramophone has been Serviced by a Gramophone specialist Engineer with the Main springs removed, cleaned and repacked in new grease ready for another 80 years.

I have tried to describe the Gramophone accurately. However, it must be born in mind unlike many "Antiques" that have been safely stored against the ravages of time in a display cabinet; the Gramophone was a Domestic Appliance which was a main source of home entertainment.
Realistically the only Gramophones that won't show signs of age are over restored examples, or the reproduction models imported from the Far East.
