As a private Collector here in England I will try and answer your Gramophone queries.
Website last updated 26 December 2009
I started collecting Gramophones (especially HMV), Phonographs and related items back in 1989 and have also built up a large number of 78's by the Australian singer Peter Dawson.
GRAMOPHONES - HELP & INFORMATION
Also Phonographs
Common questions I am asked:- Can you identify my Gramophone?. When was it made?. What's it worth?. My machine has a problem, can it be fixed?.
Where can I obtain Gramophone Needles?.
How do I operate it?. How do I Service it?
I have seen this Horn Gramophone, is it a reproduction?.
And so many more!
Further down this Web-page are details of models sold from my Collection - see what a Genuine HMV Gramophone looks like!
The book "HMV Gramophones 1921 - 1936" contains copies of the original advertising for most models produced during this period. There is much HMV and general information, also Operating & Servicing Instructions for the HMV Model 102, since all wind-up models are mechanically similar this applies to other makes of Gramophone.
My hobby takes up room in the house, it is time to reduce the number of items - my Wife thinks this is an excellent idea.
I have built up my Collection over many years by continually replacing when finding a better example of an item.
Hence the items available for purchase here are the very best found in 18 years.
NEEDLES SHOULD BE CHANGED AFTER PLAYING EACH SIDE OF A RECORD; this has always been advised by
needle manufacturers to prevent irrecoverable Record damage.
Anything to do with the Expert and EMG Gramophones Complete machines, parts no matter how small or insignificant, literature and information, anything at all related to EMG and Expert machines.
