EDISON FIRESIDE PHONOGRAPH MODEL "A"
THIS PHONOGRAPH PLAYS BOTH 2 & 4 MINUTE CYLINDERS
The Fireside Model "A" Phonograph was available between July 1909 and October 1913.
The Fireside plays either 2 or 4 minute cylinders utilizing the Model "K" Reproducer with Sapphire Styli.
It has an Antique Oak Cabinet with normal rounded top cover & end catches with the "Edison" transfer on the front of the case.
The motor is a single spring with belt-drive, it has a Push-Pull button to change the 2/4 minute selection.
The 8-Sided gilt decorated straight Horn is 20" Long and 12" Diameter.
The Horn is supported by a two piece nickel crane that fits in the socket of the top-casting.
The Original price was GBP4-20 and the Serial No. 11461 indicates an early model.
Dimensions:- Height 11", Width 11.75", Depth 9.25"
The Phonograph is in excellent condition.
The Horn is actually a reproduction, but it is not just any reproduction. Many Collectors rather than a rust-holed relic would prefer a Horn by the Master Horn-Maker George Fudge of Bridgewater, England who was renowned for producing high quality mainly Edison horns. His excellent horns could be found in Phonographs supplied by prestige Department Stores of the like of Harrods.
The Horn Connector and Crane have been replaced.
I have tried to describe the Phonograph accurately, but please take into account it is nearly 110 years old and probably used by a family for entertainment in their home hence there will be minor imperfections commensurate with age.
EDISON FIRESIDE PHONOGRAPH
It would be ideal if the Phonograph could be collected from South Devon.
Alternatively, I could deliver within a reasonable distance of South Devon at the cost of fuel.
